Get Your Ducks In A Row
"He is able who thinks he is able." - Buddha
Most of us have heard the ole' adage "Get your ducks in a row," but what does that really mean? Does it mean to get organized? To wipe the slate clean? To get our priorities in order? To follow up on something?
If we'd survey 100 people and ask them the same question, I'd bet we would get a variety answers. Regardless of whatever interpretation you may personally choose, we all have the innate ability for a "do-over." At any point in time we can start fresh. We can stop what we're doing that's not working or needs to be improved upon and shift our mind-set to a new perspective, change our lifestyle, make our actions follow a different path, and/or do something that's refreshing and new.
How often do we see people in their more seasoned years go back to school, professionals of all ages returning back to achieve yet another degree or certification, people changing professions/careers and others leaving corporate to purse non-profit or entrepreneurship.
The reality is, the world is our oyster but it's up to each and every one of us to decide what we are willing to do to obtain it. Procrastination is at the forefront idling opportunity. It's knocking on our door but we have a choice not to let it in. We know, by experience the ramifications if we don't choose wisely. If we don't choose "the oyster" now, when? What will it take for us, as individuals, to get our ducks in a row?
