Character vs Reputation

"Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are" -- John Wooden

What's more important  to you - your character or your reputation?  Living in the public eye, you may venture to say your reputation, concerned about what others say and think about you, while on the other hand struggling to find that happy medium of allowing your emotions to venture outside your comfort zone.  Containing your emotions creates another side of you that begins to become apparent, not recognizable at times to others and maybe even yourself resulting in vulnerability - another element that can manifest the exposure you may not want nor intend to share with others.

So the question bares then, when is it appropriate to just be you... The answer, at all times!  Your character is who you really are, for all of your strengths as well as your limitations... It is through all of your characteristics that you find the inner strength to endure all of life's challenging moments and character building days.  It is through your character that people appreciate your genuiness and uniquess and for that, it's something worth talking about.  Remember no one is perfect, but if we live life with purpose and embrace in our own uniqueness and that of others, imagine what we could find; a life full of interesting conversations and shared interests.
